Anyone Can Donate a Planned Gift

Gift planning encompasses a variety of ways gifts can be made to The Arc of Story County from accumulated resources. Gift planning usually involves financial or estate planning; however, it is not reserved for the wealthy. Gift planning is a means by which anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources makes a considered choice about their ultimate disposition.

In general planned gifts are made through:

  • A Bequest in a Will
  • A Life Income Gift (charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust)
  • Gifts of Special Assets (real estate, closely held stock, life insurance, appreciated securities, personal property)

Gift planning may establish a way for a donor to provide for family members while also donating to The Arc of Story County. It often enables the donor to provide more for his or her heirs and to make a larger gift than thought possible due to tax reduction.

Planned gifts can be designated for The Arc’s general fund or for our endowment.

It is advisable to consult your attorney, accountant or financial advisor when making your estate plans.

The Arc of Story County Endowment

The Arc of Story County has a special endowment fund under the umbrella of the Story County Community Foundation. Investment income from this fund can be realized on an annual basis by The Arc, creating a stable income stream. To donate to The Arc of Story County Endowment click here. Online endowment gifts are handled through an affiliation with the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.

Endow Iowa Tax Credit Program

Giving to The Arc of Story County Endowment is rewarding—in more ways than one. Your gift creates lasting change with The Arc, and the Endow Iowa Tax Credit Program offers you generous tax incentives. Those who give to The Arc of Story County Endowment might be eligible to receive 25% tax credits for their gifts in addition to federal tax deductions.
